Russia intends to recruit thousands of mercenaries from Afghanistan. Foreign Policy

The Afghan National Army Commando Corps, trained in the UK and the US, is reportedly receiving offers to join the Russian armed forces via WhatsApp and the Signal messenger. Lynn O'Donnell, a columnist for the prestigious Foreign Policy, writes about it.

"After the withdrawal of Western forces from Afghanistan, about 30,000 well-trained special forces remained in the country," the sources say. "Many have lost their jobs, and some fear for their lives because the Taliban intend to take revenge on anyone who cooperated with NATO forces."

Afghan security sources believe the vulnerability of these men could make them easy prey for Russian recruiters.

According to the source, about 10,000 people can accept Russia's offer, which can seriously affect the situation on the front.

It is still unclear how they can leave Afghanistan, but presumably, Moscow will take over the settlement of this issue with the Taliban regime.
