The Russians evacuated the monuments of Suvorov and Ushakov from Kherson

Russian forces, leaving Kherson, dismantled and removed from the city the monuments of Russian commanders Alexander Suvorov and Fyodor Ushakov, "Ria Novosti" reports.

The Russian agency explained these actions with the desire to "preserve unique works of art from the shelling of the armed forces of Ukraine."

In 1950, the Leningrad Museum presented Suvorov's bust to Kherson. Since 1957, Ushakov's statue has stood in front of the building of the Kherson State Naval Academy, located on the avenue named after him.
