The India Narrative newspaper wrote, "It is expected that the defense cooperation between India and Armenia will improve. Last week, the visit of the RA high-ranking delegation to Gujarat at "DefExpo 2022" was highlighted."
RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, during a meeting with his counterpart, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, referred to the possibilities of expanding military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries.
The newspaper writes, "Since Turkey and Pakistan support Azerbaijan, Yerevan wants to build a strong strategic partnership with New Delhi. It started with India supplying Armenia with four Swathi Weapon Locating Radars (WLR), developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization in 2020 at $40 million."
Cooperative partnerships have taken many other forms as both countries work to expand trade through the North-South International Transport Corridor using Iran's Chabahar port, which India uses.
Landlocked Armenia is a vital member of the massive pan-Eurasian transport network and has shown great interest in using the Chabahar port, which India seeks to include in the North-South framework.
