In recent weeks, two videos of the apparent execution of Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijani troops were published and widely shared on social networks. Bellingcat, an international investigative journalism agency, analyzed one of the videos, locating it and revealing several pieces of evidence, according to which one of the videos were made in the area near Black Lake.
That video was first posted on October 1. It shows a group of men in military uniform on top of a mountain they have just captured. Another group of men, charged and wearing various military uniforms, are lined up without weapons.
The video was widely distributed by pro-Azerbaijani channels, showing the Azerbaijani army's execution of Armenian soldiers.
On October 3, Libération journalists Alexandre Horne and Fabian Lebouque noted that the footage is on the border with Azerbaijan, south of Black Lake. "Analyzing one of Telegram's still images, we noticed patterns on the terrain consistent with the location from which the photo was taken."
Using Google Earth, investigative journalists could discover the area around Black Lake, which contains some geographical features.
More details are here.
