The official message of the French Foreign Ministry stated that criticism of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding French President Emmanuel Macron's comments in an interview on France 2 TV channel does not in any way change France's full commitment to progress on the road to peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev criticized French President Emmanuel Macron's comments in an interview with France 2 TV channel. According to Aliyev, the French government has erased the history of Paris's friendly and balanced attitude towards Baku. What is your reaction?
These comments in no way change France's full commitment to making progress towards peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Thanks to the President of France, the fourth quadrilateral meeting with Charles Michel, President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan was able to take place on October 6 within the framework of the first summit of the European Political Community. This meeting brought us closer to this goal, which is reflected in the statement made on that occasion. Moreover, France fully supports the process of negotiating a peace treaty between the two countries with the EU," the message said.
