The current president of Austria, Alexander van der Bellen, won the Austrian presidential election held on October 9 with a large margin. According to the preliminary results of the vote, quoted by the DPA agency, referring to the Ministry of the Interior of Austria, van der Bellen, elected for the second term, received 54.6% of the votes.
To publish the summary results, it is necessary to process about 800,000 more ballots sent by mail, but the situation is unlikely to change significantly.
The Austrian presidential candidate needed more than half of the votes to win in the first round. Thus, van der Bellen was re-elected for a second six-year term.
