The arming of Greece by the USA is unacceptable." Erdogan

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, considered the arming of the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios by the United States unacceptable.

"We have given the necessary warnings to the USA and Greece through the Foreign Ministry. We sent our last letter to the UN on September 17. From a legal point of view, they are demilitarized islands and, according to the Lausanne Treaty, they have a special status," Erdogan said.

According to him, it is unacceptable for the United States to send many weapons, ammunition, and equipment to those islands. Erdogan also criticized the US's lifting of the arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot community.

"Everyone should know that this last step will not go unanswered, and all precautions will be taken for the safety of Turkish Cypriots," Erdogan said.
