The Taliban signed a contract for Russian oil products, gas, and wheat

Afghanistan's Trade and Industry Minister Haji Nuruddin Aziz told Reuters that the Taliban had signed a temporary agreement with Russia to supply Afghanistan with gasoline, diesel, and wheat.

Aziz said the ministry was working to diversify its trading partners, and Russia had offered the Taliban administration a discount on global average commodity prices.

The move, the first known international economic deal struck since the Taliban regained power more than a year ago, could help ease the Islamist movement's isolation, which has effectively cut it off from the global banking system.
