Canada still plans to return five turbines for Nord Stream. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Melanie Jolie, in an interview with CBC. Ottawa stands by the decision, despite Gazprom's earlier refusal to accept one Siemens turbine that has already been returned to Germany.
In July, the Canadian authorities permitted to send one turbine that underwent technical maintenance in Montreal to Germany for transfer to "Gazprom." However, the Russian state company refused to accept it, citing technical problems.
The Canadian government has deemed the return of the turbines a necessary step to secure gas supplies to Germany.
