"International law requires Crimea to be returned to Ukraine." Erdogan

The war should end with a just peace based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"We believe that the war, which has been going on since February 24, should end with a just peace based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Turkey has made great efforts to achieve this goal by creating an effective diplomatic channel. We have significant achievements, in particular, the meeting of foreign ministers in Antalya in March, the peace negotiations in Istanbul, the grain agreement," Erdogan said.

He emphasized that international law requires Crimea to be returned to Ukraine.

"It is essential for the entire region and global security system, stability, territorial integrity of Ukraine, preservation of its sovereignty, political system," he explained.

Erdogan said that Crimea belongs to Ukraine. Therefore Turkey supports Crimea as part of Ukraine. The Turkish president added that Crimean Tatars are citizens of Ukraine, and Crimea should be developed in their interests.
