Vahram Atanesyan, former member of the Supreme Council of Armenia and member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, wrote on his Facebook page:
"It is time to put an end to those false narratives that 'you can remain Armenian anywhere' or 'all due respect to Diaspora Armenians, Armenia is also their home.'"
Armenia is not an "open-air museum" nor a place to "look at apricots" and "eat lamb." Armenia is a state with a population of three million citizens who elect a government, which can change the constitution tomorrow or not, attend church or not, demand or not the resignation of the government, have allies, and normalize relations with its neighbors.
The remaining 6-8 million Armenians worldwide are citizens of the United States, Russia, France, Canada, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, or Australia, as well as the Canary Islands. In the event of mutual acceptance of this reality, relations between Armenia and the diaspora will be more sincere, and the ties between Armenia and the diaspora Armenians will be more mutually beneficial."
