Vahram Atanesyan, a former member of the Supreme Council of Armenia and member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, wrote on his Facebook page:
"After a long and careful "elaboration" of Tatul Hakobyan, the Armenian political scientist finally admits that in the negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, the issue of the Azerbaijanis returning to Shushi was indeed discussed, but on the condition that the Armenians also return to Shahumyan. He concluded that the Armenians would not return to Shahumyan, and the Azerbaijanis could not return to Shushi.
It is iron logic; you can't say anything. But it would be good if he knew that in the negotiations held in Rome in July-August 1992 under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, Azerbaijan raised the issue of withdrawing Armenian troops from Lachin and Shushi because the course of the war was in its favor.
If Armenian political scientists and analysts were aware of such nuances, they would not have talked nonsense for years about the proposals for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict; they would have urged the authorities to do everything so that a second war does not break out."
