It would later be revealed that the Kocharyan-Oskanyan couple had tried to convince the Huntsmans. Babajanyan

The chairman of the “For the Republic” party, Arman Babajanyan, wrote on his “Facebook” page:

“In September 1998, Robert Kocharyan visited the United States. At that time, he left for Salt Lake City for 2 days without bodyguards. This is confusing. Soon, the head of the Armenian Diocese of North America, Archbishop Vache Hovsepyan, found out that Kocharyan was hosted by one of the leaders of the famous Mormon church in the United States, the Huntsman family.

The Huntsmans had been active in Armenia after the 1988 earthquake. Archbishop Vache claimed that Kocharyan was a Mormon. Later, it was revealed that the Kocharyan-Oskanyan couple had tried to convince the Huntsmans to invest in Armenia, and the poor, naive person had done it.

Years later, the press reported that the Armenian authorities had deceived the Huntsmans, and a sizeable financial commitment remained unfulfilled. I remembered this because of the fuss about a routine meeting in Washington today.”
