Armenia should declare that it does not recognize the legitimacy of the Belarusian elections: Babajanyan

The chairman of the "For the Republic" party, Arman Babajanyan, wrote on his Facebook page:

"Armenia should not only not congratulate the results of the elections in Belarus but also officially declare that it does not recognize its legitimacy, taking into account the authoritarian nature of the Belarusian authorities and gross violations of international norms. The Belarusian ambassador to Armenia should be declared persona non grata and given 24 hours to leave the territory of Armenia.

Such a step would logically continue Armenia's previously announced policy of lowering relations with Belarus. Standing up for one's statements means ensuring the weight of Armenia's state position and protecting the country's dignity.

The current leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, once again openly demonstrated disrespect towards Armenia, manipulating the situation and using groundless statements. This behavior is unacceptable not only politically but also morally.

Armenia should immediately establish minimum relations with Belarus, if not completely sever diplomatic ties, as long as Alexander Lukashenko is the country's leader.

At the same time, Armenia's position must be presented to the international community and real and unreal allies, emphasizing that Armenia will not tolerate violations of allied commitments and provocations.

These steps will also convey Armenia's determination to defend its national interests, dignity, and sovereignty, regardless of any external pressure or manipulation. Armenia should be an example of pursuing a strong and principled diplomatic policy."
