According to the decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, sanctions were imposed against the leaders of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine for five years. There are four metropolitans on the list: Metropolitan Lukan (Andriy Kovalenko) of Zaporizhia and Melitopol, Panteleimon (Vasily Povoroznyuk) of Luhansk and Alchevsk, Antony (Ivan Pakanich) of Boryspil and Brovarsk, Meleti (Valentin Yegoreni Konovysko) of Chernivtsi and Bukovina.
"We are doing everything so that the aggressor state does not have a single thread by which it can influence the society of Ukraine," Zelensky commented on the decision.
