Today's British MoD intelligence report analyzes the effectiveness of Iranian drones that Russia has deployed in its war against Ukraine.
Russia, at least since August of this year, began using Iranian-made drones. They are Shahid-136 drone-kamikazes. Russia deployed such devices in a large-scale wave of airstrikes on October 10. As the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army reported earlier, Russia launched 86 such drones, about 60% of which were destroyed in the air.
These devices move at a low speed and altitude, making it easy for conventional air defenses to hit them.
Despite the declared range of 2,500 km, the Shahid-136 devices can only carry a small number of explosives. It is unlikely that this would adequately solve the problems of striking in the deep rear, for which Russia was probably going to use them.
