"Vladimir Putin's statements should be taken very seriously." Merkel

In Munich, during the ceremony dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" newspaper, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced that she is convinced that lasting peace in Europe can be achieved only with the participation of Russia.

Merkel emphasized that stable peace in Europe could be achieved only with the participation of Russia. "So far, we haven't managed to do it; the cold war is not over yet," DPA quoted her.

The former head of the German government noted that the current events in Ukraine had become a "turning point," noting that Russian President Putin's statements should be taken very seriously. "We are all advised to take his words seriously, not to consider them a bluff," Merkel said.
