Ukraine will allocate more than 27 billion dollars for defense in 2023

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian authorities will allocate more than 1 trillion hryvnias (more than $27 billion) for defense and security in 2023. The head of Ukraine announced this in his daily evening address.

Meanwhile, as the Wall Street Journal writes, Ukraine's budget deficit is about 5 billion dollars related to military expenses, as a result of which the country has difficulties in fulfilling its social obligations. Conflict-related costs account for about 60% of the budget, while tax revenues cover only 40% of costs.
