The German chancellor rejected Ukraine's request

Citing the sources of the Ukrainian government, Welt writes about German Chancellor Scholz rejecting the request of Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmygal regarding the supply of modern German "Leopard 2" tanks.

As the publication notes, the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann company had a preliminary agreement to supply Ukraine with 100 Leopard 2A7 tanks (including spare parts for soldiers and training units) for a total amount of 1.55 billion euros. Therefore, the first tanks could be delivered 36 months after the contract signing. However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz did not approve the deal.

In response to Welt's inquiry, Scholz's office said they do not stop supporting Ukraine in military, political, financial, and humanitarian programs. Moreover, they clarified that they do not always inform about the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
