Grok restricts editing of photos of real people

Elon Musk's Grok artificial intelligence model can no longer edit photos of real people to show them in revealing clothing. The decision was made against the backdrop of the widespread spread of sexual deepfakes created using AI and a strong public response.

"We have taken measures to prevent Grok from editing photos of real people to show them in revealing clothing, such as bikinis. This restriction applies to all users, including paid subscribers," the X platform said in an official statement.

The changes were announced a few hours after the California Attorney General's statement, which stated that state authorities were investigating the spread of sexual deepfakes created using Grok, including images of children.

The company also emphasized that photo editing through Grok will be available only to paid subscribers.

According to the statement, this change will add layer of protection and help hold accountable those who attempt to use Grok to violate the law or X's rules.
