Volvo announces recall of nearly 400,000 cars in the US

Swedish automaker Volvo Cars has announced a recall of 413,151 vehicles in the United States due to a rearview camera issue, Reuters reports.

The recall is reportedly due to a software glitch that could cause the camera to malfunction. The software update will be installed free of charge, either at dealerships or via an over-the-air update.

The recall affects Volvo XC40 crossovers from the 2021-2025 model years. This is the second recall of these vehicles in the U.S. market; the previous one was announced in May last year. The company explained that the new recall was due to the discovery of an additional problem that causes the same symptoms as the previous one.

Volvo also said that it is completing software updates for all affected vehicles.
