YouTube has allowed some previously banned users to create new accounts and post videos again since Thursday.
YouTube has lifted several restrictions in recent years, particularly for misinformation about COVID-19 and the 2020 US presidential election. Once reinstated, users will not be able to restore their old channels or subscribers, but will only be able to re-upload videos that meet current rules. Reinstated users can join YouTube’s Partner Program and monetize their channels again. They will be subject to the same three-strikes-and-a-ban policy as new users.
The company says the goal is to ensure that users fully understand the platform’s rules and return in the right way.
