The strongest magnetic storm in recent months is expected

The Earth is preparing for the most powerful magnetic storm in recent months, which, according to estimates, will be observed on August 8, at 08:00 in the morning Yerevan time, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Siberian Institute of Solar Physics reported.

According to experts, the mass of plasma released after the large solar flare of the M4.4 level recorded on August 5 will reach Earth. It will have more serious geomagnetic consequences than predicted.

"Model calculations have shown that the core of the plasma cloud will hit the Earth at high speed. At that moment, the impact on the magnetic field can be significantly strong," the message states.

Experts also report that the deterioration of magnetic activity may begin as early as Thursday evening, when the Earth will enter the zone of influence of a large coronal hole.

"At the time of the collision, the geomagnetic Kp index is predicted to reach 6, which corresponds to a G2 level (moderate magnetic storm). Such activity was last observed on June 13," the laboratory said in a statement.
