Lada Azimut crossover unveiled (PHOTOS)

Russia's largest automaker, AvtoVAZ, has unveiled its new crossover, the Lada Azimut, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. It is based on its own Russian-made Vesta platform.

The crossover is painted beige, with a black roof and door pillars. It also features unique wheel rims with a triangular pattern.

"Azimut was chosen due to an open competition in which about 50,000 AvtoVAZ employees participated. The entire design of the car, from the idea and design to the development and production of technical systems, was carried out by Russian specialists," the company said in a statement.

Almost 1,000 elements have been created for the Lada Azimut, including new body panels, lighting systems, interior components, and a new rear suspension. In total, 996 unique units and components have been developed and improved.

Serial production is scheduled to begin in 2026. In the initial versions, the car will be released with improved engines manufactured by AvtoVAZ, with working volumes of 1.6 and 1.8 liters and capacities of 120 and 132 horsepower, respectively. Two transmissions will be provided: a six-speed manual and a CVT.

The crossover will soon receive a new 150-horsepower turbo engine and a classic automatic transmission.
