Reuters reports that Meta Platforms announced on Tuesday that it has developed a new application programming interface (API) based on its Llama artificial intelligence models.
The new Llama API, unveiled at Meta's first AI developer conference, will compete with APIs from major companies such as OpenAI, Google, and DeepSeek.
"Now you can start using Llama with just one line of code," said Chris Cox, Meta's chief product officer.
APIs allow developers to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into their products, providing customization and rapid response. In OpenAI's case, APIs are the company's primary source of revenue.
Meta, which released the latest version of its Llama model earlier this month, did not provide details on the API's pricing. According to the company's press release, the service is currently available to a limited number of customers as an initial version, with broader availability planned in the coming weeks or months.
