Japanese automaker Nissan Motor will stop accepting new orders for the US market for the Infiniti QX50 and QX55 SUVs. The reason is the tariffs imposed by the US.
According to Reuters, the models are manufactured in Mexico. Since Infiniti's decision to abandon production, the company has produced the Rogue SUV in two shifts in Smyrna, Tennessee.
US President Donald Trump announced that 25% tariffs would be imposed on imported cars. At the same time, production of the Infiniti QX50 and QX55, which are intended for other markets, will continue.
Trump's tariff policy is causing concern in Japan, especially regarding import tariffs on cars, which account for about 28% of Japanese exports to the United States. The head of the White House also announced that the United States will set a minimum % tariff rate of 10% for all imported goods.
