Apple sued over AI

Axios reports that Apple has been sued in the US over its artificial intelligence (AI) features. The lawsuit, filed by Clarkson Law Firm in a federal court in San Jose, California, alleges that Apple advertised AI features that were either partially or unavailable on the company's devices.

The plaintiffs cited the iPhone 16 series as an example. Although the phones were advertised as featuring Apple Intelligence, they did not have AI features when released. Consumers also pointed to an Apple Intelligence ad featuring actress Bella Ramsey. The company showed how a user could prepare for a meeting by relying entirely on the iPhone's AI features.

The plaintiffs claim that the IT giant's advertising created "clear and reasonable expectations among consumers that revolutionary features would be available at the time of iPhone's release." Apple has indeed delayed the introduction of AI services to its devices, and even now, Apple Intelligence features are only available in a limited number of countries.
