Spanish company to start launching missiles from Oman

European Spaceflight reports that Spanish company PLD Space has agreed to launch a Miura 5 rocket from the Omani Etlaq spaceport. The platform's first launch in the Arab country is scheduled for 2027.

The Miura 5 is a 35.7-meter-long two-stage rocket that, once operational, can launch up to 1,080 kg of cargo into low Earth orbit. The missile was initially planned to launch from the new commercial launch complex at the space center in French Guiana. The first flight of the Miura 5 is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026.

The company said this was necessary "to meet the needs of its customers in the eastern market." By 2030, PLD Space plans to launch up to 30 Miura 5 rockets yearly.
