Japanese module orbits the Moon

The Hakuto-R2 module of the Japanese company ispace has successfully orbited the Moon, reports SpaceNews.

As of February 14, the device was at an altitude of 8,400 km above the lunar surface.

“I am fully confident that the module will achieve its goals and is on track for success,” said Ispace founder and CEO Takeshi Hakamada.

The Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Hakuto-R module launched into space on January 15 from the Florida Space Center in the USA. The module is expected to land on the lunar surface in May.
