South Korean officials said DeepSeek has temporarily suspended downloads of its chatbot apps in South Korea to cooperate with local authorities and resolve privacy concerns.
South Korea’s Privacy Commission said that DeepSeek apps had been removed from Apple’s App Store and Google Play late Saturday. The company has agreed to work with the agency to tighten privacy protections before re-releasing the apps.
The action does not apply to users who have already downloaded DeepSeek. Nam Seok, director of the South Korean commission’s investigations division, advised South Korean users to uninstall the app from their devices or avoid entering personal information until the issues are resolved.
