Reuters reported that Alibaba's chairman said the company will partner with Apple to support iPhone artificial intelligence (AI) services in China. This will help the US company reduce the decline in smartphone sales in its main market.
For Alibaba, the partnership is a significant victory in the competitive Chinese artificial intelligence market, where DeepSeek holds a considerable share.
"They talked to several Chinese companies. In the end, they chose us. They want to use our AI technology in their phones. We feel very honored to cooperate with a giant like Apple," Alibaba said.
Alibaba and Apple have already submitted materials to the authorities.
Apple did not immediately respond to this news.
Analysts say Apple's response will depend on how quickly the features are released in China.
