Open AI accused DeepSeek

Open AI claims that the Chinese DeepSeek system used patented AI models to train its open-source AI, raising concerns about intellectual property.

“Chinese companies and others are constantly trying to use American AI models,” OpenAI said.

DeepSeek reportedly used a “distillation” method, in which smaller AI models learn from larger ones, significantly reducing training costs. Open AI claims to have evidence of such a practice.

White House AI advisor David Sacks suggests that DeepSeek could “draw knowledge” from OpenAI models.
