Trump signs executive order on cryptocurrencies

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to create a cryptocurrency task force. According to Reuters, the task force will propose new regulations for digital assets and study the possibility of creating a national cryptocurrency repository.

The order also prohibits the creation of digital currencies by central banks in the United States that could compete with existing cryptocurrencies.

During the presidential campaign, Trump promised to be "cryptocurrency president” and promote the adoption of digital assets.
