After spending seven months on the International Space Station, one of NASA's astronauts, Suni Williams, left space. He worked with another NASA astronaut, Nick Hague.
The International Space Station was passing over Turkmenistan at an altitude of 420 km when Williams and Hague disembarked and began scheduled repairs.
Williams looked closely at the SpaceX spacecraft that will return him to Earth this spring. Williams is scheduled to return to space next week with Beech Wilmore for another spacewalk.
Due to problems with the Starliner, their return was delayed, and NASA decided to return the spacecraft empty. SpaceX's spacecraft launch was delayed, meaning they would not return to Earth until late March or April, 10 months after launch.
This is the astronauts' first spacewalk since last summer when one astronaut's suit's air system leaked water. NASA has announced that the problem has already been solved.
