Apple lost its position as the largest smartphone seller in China in 2024. Local Vivo and Huawei captured 17% and 16% market share, respectively, according to Reuters reports.
Apple's shipments fell by 17%, the biggest decline in recent years. This is due to the fact that the new iPhone models in China do not offer advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, which is used in the products of other competitors, Huawei and Xiaomi.
Huawei, which continues to show strong progress in the premium segment, started to recover after it released new phones in August 2023.
China's smartphone market overall grew 4% to 285 million units.
