Trump's team is going ahead with Tesla's opinion

"Reuters" agency reports that Trump's team wants the new administration to eliminate the accident reporting requirement that Elon Musk's Tesla has opposed.

The move could undermine the government's ability to investigate and regulate the safety of vehicles with automated systems.

Musk, the world's richest man, spent over a quarter of a billion dollars in November to help Trump become president.

Eliminating the accident reporting requirement would benefit Tesla, which has reported more than 1,500 accidents to federal safety regulators under the program.

A transition group tasked with developing a 100-day strategy for auto policy proposed repealing the accident reporting rule.

Trump's transition team, Musk and Tesla, did not respond to requests for comment.
