Rolls Royce begins testing the world's largest jet engine

Rolls-Royce has announced the completion of the prototype of the Ultra Fan engine, the world's largest jet engine.

The engine was brought to the Rolls-Royce test stand called "Stand 80" in the British city of Derby. Testing of the Ultra Fan should begin next year. Rolls Royce has invested almost £90 million in "Stand 80."

Rolls-Royce says the engine is designed so that large amounts of air pass around the compressor core rather than through it. This creates a high two-way coefficient, which reduces the noise level by 35% and reduces fuel consumption.
