In response to inaccurate information spread by certain media outlets, the Figure Skating Federation of Armenia states that it maintains ongoing, practical cooperation with both the Olympic Committee of Armenia and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, and consistently receives appropriate responses and support from these bodies.
As for the non-issuance of visas by the British Embassy, such issues are dealt with by the relevant national federations, and the Figure Skating Federation is no exception in this regard.
The meeting between the Federation's representatives and the Olympic Committee focused exclusively on organizational matters related to participation in the Olympic Games. No official visa application was submitted to the Olympic Committee.
"Similarly, the issue of visa delays was raised with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs only during a telephone conversation, at the level of a hint, without an official application. After the delay, the bodies mentioned had no legal or practical opportunity to intervene in the process.
If there were any official mechanism or opportunity to intervene, the relevant structures would definitely take advantage of it, in line with our team's interests.
Taking this opportunity, we would like to express our gratitude to the National Olympic Committee of Armenia and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, in particular the Sports Department, for their constant support, cooperation and support to the Figure Skating Federation of Armenia," the statement says.
Earlier, it was announced that the Armenian national team figure skater Simone Danilyants and the sports couple Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmani would not participate in the European Figure Skating Championships because the British Embassy did not issue entry visas to Armenian athletes by the specified deadlines.
