Vahe Aghasyan declared European U23 champion

Armenian judoka Vahe Aghasyan (60 kg) was declared the champion of the European Under-23 Championship, defeating his Georgian opponent in the final.

At the tournament held in Chisinau, the Armenian judoka defeated competitors from Bulgaria, Spain, Moldova, and Belgium, and in the final match, he defeated Georgian Mate Gogoberishvili.

This is the second gold medal in the history of this age group for Armenia at the European Championship; the last time this achievement was accomplished was 22 years ago, in 2003, when Armen Nazaryan won.

The last time Armenia won the European Judo Championship for adults was in 2019, when Ferdinand Karapetyan became the champion.
