The Armenian Weightlifting Federation reports that the European Youth and U23 Championships are continuing in Durres, Albania.
In the snatch of the 79 kg weightlifting competition, Narek Mkrtchyan lifted 145 kg and 150 kg in succession. He is 4th in this form. With the first approach of the clean and jerk, Mkrtchyan set a European record in the doubles event. In this exercise, our weightlifter also lifted 188 kg. He is second in this form.
With the result of 338 kg in the doubles event, Narek Mkrtchyan is the silver medalist of the European Youth Championship.
In the 79 kg weightlifting competition, Martin Poghosyan had an unsuccessful participation in the snatch. In the clean and jerk, the Armenian weightlifter held 175 kg and 182 kg above his head. Poghosyan is 3rd in this form.
