2006 World Cup winner and Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro has arrived in Uzbekistan with his coaching staff, according to the press service of the Uzbekistan Football Association.
“Candidate for the position of head coach of the Uzbekistan national team Fabio Cannavaro has arrived in Tashkent with his coaching staff,” the statement said.
Earlier, media outlets reported that Cannavaro had verbally agreed to become the new head coach of the Uzbekistan national team. The Uzbekistan Football Association has officially confirmed negotiations with the Italian.
Cannavaro will lead the team at the 2026 World Cup, where the team has already qualified. The parties have agreed on the terms of the contract.
