Portugal and Liverpool midfielder Diogo Jota, 28, has died in a car accident. The prestigious Marca newspaper, along with several other reputable sports publications, reported this.
It is reported that Jota died in a car accident in the Spanish province of Zamora. The accident occurred at the 65th kilometer of the A-52 highway.
His brother, 26-year-old Andre, was also in the same car with the Portuguese, who, according to media reports, also died. Their car left the road and caught fire.
According to official sources, the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
The tragic news became known just two weeks after Jota married his longtime girlfriend Rute Cardoso in Porto.
The football world is mourning the untimely loss of the 28-year-old player.
