"United are not yet ready to compete in the Premier League and Champions League," says Amorim

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has said the team is not currently ready to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League simultaneously.

The 4-3 defeat at Brentford was United's 16th league defeat in 35 years this season, their worst in the league. The defeat automatically left them outside the top ten in the Premier League.

Despite a 3-0 aggregate win over Athletic in the Europa League semi-finals, Amorim says the team still needs to improve to compete on two fronts. "It's a real dilemma, but we have to win to give our fans something and qualify for the Champions League," he said.

Amorim is pleased with the performance of young players Chido Obi, Harry Amass, and Tyler Fredrickson, but he insists such results cannot become the norm.
