Armed men in Zimbabwe have robbed the home of the parents of International Olympic Committee President-elect Kirsty Coventry. The robbers stole cash and valuables, including some of Coventry's Olympic memorabilia.
The robbery included $15,000 in cash, $60,000 worth of jewelry, three hair dryers, Coventry's Olympic swimsuits, suitcases, $5,000 worth of hearing aids, and three hunting rifles.
The perpetrators have been identified: Two brothers, John and Mike Nhongwe, will appear in court on Friday on charges related to the robbery.
The brothers took Coventry's parents, Robert Edwin and Lynn Coventry, hostage at gunpoint, tied their hands and feet, and then robbed the home.
Zimbabwe's Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry has been elected as the president of the International Olympic Committee, making her the first female head of the IOC in its history.
