Official: Armenia's national team has a new head coach

The Armenian Football Federation announced that the former head coach of Ajax and the Greek national team will head the Armenian national team.

The Armenian national team will be coached by 61-year-old Dutch coach John van't Schip, who will be assisted by former Dutch national team player Aron Winter.

FFA President Armen Melikbekyan introduced John van't Schip to the members of the FFA Executive Committee, which approved Schip's candidacy for the position of head coach of the Armenian national team.

The coach will take up his duties on March 1, 2025. The contract is designed in a 1+1 format.

John van't Schip was born on December 30, 1963.

Netherlands national team - 41 games, two goals

1992-1996 Genoa (Italy) - 107 games, 11 goals

He joined the Netherlands national team at the 1988 European Championship as a player. Champion, won the Dutch championship title 4 times (1981-1982, 1982-1983, 1984-1985, 1989-1990) with Ajax, the Dutch Cup 3 times (1982-1983, 1985-1986, 1986-1987), the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1986-1987) and the UEFA Cup (1991-1992) winner.

As a coach, he managed Ajax and the Greek national team and was assistant coach of the Netherlands national team to Marco Van Basten. Under his leadership, Melbourne City of Australia won the 2016 Australian Cup.
