Vinicius, the best football player of the year

Vinicius Junior, the Brazilian striker for Real Madrid, was named the best football player of the year at the Globe Soccer Awards.

The award ceremony took place in Dubai.

Other nominees for the award were Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Kylian Mbappe (all Real Madrid), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico), Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting), Erling Haaland, Rodri (both Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern), Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal (both "Barcelona"), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), Lautaro Martinez (Inter), Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nasr), and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).

The Globe Soccer Awards is an annual award presented since 2010.

Kylian Mbappe was recognized as the best football player last year.
