Para-skier Garik Melkonyan (Ashotsk), for the first time in the history of Armenian para-skiing (LW6), took third place in the international ranking tournament held in Norway.
Melkonyan won a bronze medal in the 10 km classical style competition. As part of the rating tournament, the representative of Armenia also competed in the sprint competition, where he won 6th place after passing the qualifying round.
Garik Melkonyan took part in an international tournament for the first time and won Armenia's first-ever medal in para-skiing.
Melkonyan went to the competition venue with coach Tadevos Poghosyan. Before the tournament, they participated in the training camp organized by the International Skiing and Snowboarding Federation and the coaching and training course under the guidance of the best Norwegian and Italian specialists.
Next, Garik Melkonyan will participate in the World Student Winter Sports Games to be held in Turin in January, where, by the way, disabled sports will be included for the first time, as well as the World Cup and the World Championship of para-skiing to be held in Norway in February-March.
Garik Melkonyan is preparing for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina.
