Freestyle wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan wrote on his Facebook page:
"During the last months, we have been working non-stop, preparing for the Army World Championship held in our country. Our team has put in much effort to get in top shape. We have strictly followed the diet and overcome physical and psychological difficulties to keep our country's honor high.
However, a few days ago, we were informed that we could not participate in the championship with our strongest team. It's even more unfortunate that our top wrestlers, athletes who had a great chance to become champions, were kicked out of the tournament. We have yet to be given any clear reasons why we are faced with such a decision.
This situation is tough for us, psychologically and physically. The work we have done and the sacrifices we have made remain in vain. Dear journalists, we cannot answer your questions because we do not know why. To get a clear answer, contact the Ministry of Defense spokesperson and ask them your questions. We do not have clear information about the reasons," he wrote.
On November 20-22, the 37th World Military Wrestling Championship will be held at the K. Demirchyan Sports Concert Complex in Yerevan.
