Samvel Gasparyan, two-time European weightlifting champion, three-time silver medalist, and bronze medalist of the World Championship, is ending his sports career. The athlete announced this on Facebook Live. The reason is the injuries of the weightlifter's knees.
"I have always felt the need for your support, your presence both during successes and failures. The time has come for me to tell you all. No matter how hard it is for me, I have decided to end my sports career.
This moment is difficult for all athletes; they all see themselves at the Olympic peak. It didn't work out for me due to an injury, but my feelings and goals are related to sports. I see myself next to sports even after sports because sports are my life. I will try to be on the side of sports. Thank you all," Gasparyan said.
