Armenian weightlifters were hosted at the "Olympic House of Armenia" in Paris

The new Paris Olympics runner-up, super heavyweight weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan, bronze medalist Gor Minasyan, and weightlifters Garik Karapetyan and Andranik Karapetyan were hosted today at the "Olympic House of Armenia" in the French capital and met with representatives and fans of the Armenian community.

RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan, RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Hasmik Tolmajyan, European champion, three-time world cup winner, Olympic vice-champion, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, freestyle wrestler Stepan Sargsyan, representatives of the sports world participated in the event.

Karen Giloyan, the deputy minister of KGSMS, welcomed the participants and congratulated the weightlifters. He praised the work done by the athletes and coaches and stressed that participating in the Olympic Games is already a great achievement.

The deputy minister also thanked the Armenian General Benevolent Union, "Fastex," "Unibank," and "Yucom" companies for their support.

RA Ambassador to France Hasmik Tolmajyan, congratulating the athletes, noted that there are no random participants in the Olympic Games. "We are proud of you and thank you for the unforgettable feelings you gave us. I am sure we will experience many moments of joy again in the next competitions. There is no success in any other field that unites as much as in sports, not only in Armenia but also in the Diaspora. We are also grateful for the "Olympic House of Armenia" initiative, which was a great opportunity to strengthen fan-athlete ties."

Olympic vice-champion Varazdat Lalayan thanked for the congratulations and the opportunity to meet with the Armenian community. "Thank you for such support. We felt a lot of warmth in the gymnasium and the "Olympic House of Armenia." Thank you for cheering, supporting, and being by our side. I am very happy for this medal. Of course, we came here for other purposes, but we have what we have."

Weightlifter Gor Minasyan, who plays under the flag of Bahrain, also thanked for the support.

"You have enthusiastically supported all our athletes and attended the competitions. In those big halls, the chanting of our fans was constantly heard, and the flag of Armenia was waving. It is very welcome. I appreciate your support. After the European Weightlifting Championship held in Yerevan, this was one of the best halls full of Armenians."

Afterward, the athletes took pictures, signed autographs, and interacted with the fans. The representatives of the Armenian community in France also thanked for the hospitality, joint viewing of the Olympic tournaments throughout Paris-2024 and meetings with famous athletes.
